Our second Top Gun Poker Chip Shoot went great. Originally it was supposed to be an annual competition, but people started asking if we could have some kind of game monthly so we are.
Just like the first one we had four stages of nine poker chips and one little star (this was different) on a card. Ten shots per page. Guys arrived with everything from Rem 7mm Senderos with no muzzle brake to heavy tricked out bench rest rifles. We have yet to really put a rule on what you can shoot. Doesn’t matter what you shoot or if you win or loose you will get good practice and have fun.
This time we changed it up a bit and had a competition within a competition. We pasted a dead stinkbug to a target and set it at four hundred yards. Each competitor got one shot to either hit or come as close as possible. For some reason this brought the child out in everyone, including me. Why shooting at a stinkbug is so much more entertaining than a piece of plastic I have no idea, but there ya go. My Bullseye camera system came in really handy since mirage was too thick to pick out shots on a stinkbug at four hundred yards.
After the competition we all had a great lunch in Top Gun’s on site restaurant. Then awarded prizes which were:
1st Place – 20 free visits. $500 value
2nd Place – 10 free visits $250 value
3rd Place – Top Gun hat and T-shirt. Martin actually chose a grey one, but decided to pimp the pink for the pics.
